Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Cadence ("Cadence", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Cadence mobile application (the "App"). Cadence is an interview-practice app that lets you answer interview questions out loud and receive AI-generated feedback on what you said and how you said it.

Operator: Cadence is operated by Rachel Huie. If you have any questions, contact us at support@getcadence.org.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, a password (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider), and an optional display name. You can also start using the App as an anonymous guest; a guest account has no email until you choose to create a full account, at which point your guest activity carries over.
  • Content you provide. To generate role-relevant questions and feedback, you may paste, type, or attach (as a PDF or screenshot) a job description and your résumé. This content can contain personal information about you. You may also save a default résumé to reuse across sessions. We process this content to operate the App.
  • Voice recordings. With your permission, the App records audio of your spoken answers using your device's microphone. These recordings are stored in your private account so you can play them back later.
  • Transcripts, metrics, and feedback. We create text transcripts of your spoken answers and derive delivery metrics (for example, speaking pace, filler-word rate, and pauses) and content scores and written feedback. This information is stored with your account so you can review your history and progress.
  • Practice goals. If you set an interview date and target role, that information is stored to power your countdown, reminders, and personalization (this is stored on your device).
  • Usage and diagnostic data. To understand how the App is used and to keep it reliable, we collect product-analytics events (for example, which features you use and how far you get in a practice session), basic device and app information (such as device model, operating-system version, and app version), and crash and error reports.
  • Permissions. The App requests access to your microphone (to record your answers) and, only when you choose to attach a screenshot of a job description or résumé, your photo library. You can manage these permissions in your device settings.

We do not intentionally collect special categories of sensitive personal information, and we ask that you not include such information in your résumé or answers.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • provide the App's core functionality — generating interview questions, recording and transcribing your answers, analyzing your delivery, and producing scores and feedback;
  • save and display your session history, recordings, transcripts, and progress over time;
  • personalize your experience (for example, role-specific questions and your interview countdown);
  • send you reminders or notifications you have enabled (such as an interview-day message), which you can turn off at any time in your device settings;
  • maintain, secure, debug, and improve the App; and
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We do not use your résumé, answers, recordings, or transcripts to advertise to you, and we do not sell your personal information.

3. How we share your information

We share information only as described below. We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers / processors.

We use trusted third parties to operate the App. They process your information only to provide services to us, under contractual obligations of confidentiality and security:

  • Supabase — hosts our database, user authentication, and file storage (including your recordings, transcripts, scores, and the content you provide).
  • Deepgram — converts your recorded audio into text (speech-to-text) and generates the interviewer's spoken voice (text-to-speech).
  • Anthropic (Claude) — receives your job description, résumé, and answer transcripts to generate interview questions and written feedback.
  • PostHog — provides product analytics so we can understand usage and improve the App.
  • Sentry — provides crash and error reporting so we can fix problems.
  • Apple — distributes the App and processes any future purchases.

These AI and infrastructure providers process your content to provide their services to us; under their commercial terms they do not use your content to train their own models for their own purposes. We encourage you to review each provider's privacy policy.

Legal and safety.

We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Cadence, our users, or others.

Business transfers.

If Cadence is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your information.

4. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. You can delete individual practice sessions (including their recordings) or your entire account at any time from within the App; deleting your account removes your associated data, including recordings and transcripts, from our active systems. Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before being overwritten, and we may retain limited information where required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

5. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of it, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent.

  • Access and deletion. You can review your sessions in the App and delete individual sessions or your entire account at any time. To request a copy of your data or exercise other rights, contact us at support@getcadence.org.
  • Permissions. You can revoke microphone or photo access in your device settings (some features will not work without microphone access).
  • Notifications. You can disable notifications in your device settings.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland (GDPR): our legal bases for processing are your consent (for example, microphone access), the performance of our contract with you (to provide the App), and our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the App). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@getcadence.org.

6. Security

We protect your information using industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), private file storage, and per-user access controls so that you can access only your own data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. International users

We operate the App from, and process information in, the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you use the App from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above and, for material changes, provide additional notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
